Theme No. 2
“Awake”
Sun Salutations
The triangles making up this piece are supposed to represent the anticrepuscular rays from a sunrise. No matter where you are in the world, the sun will rise again and each day is a new day.

Awake
The theme inspired me to do a collage that captures the act of awakening. The collage transitions from the surreal landscape of dreams (left) to the soft awakening to daylight when the sun rises (right). The yellow stripe indicates the sun rising. I played around with different shapes to create the illusion of fluidity and juxtaposition of the two worlds (dreams vs reality).

Morning Matcha
The first thing that comes to mind when I think about awake is caffeine. Unfortunately, without caffeine awake doesn't exist for me. Through this video I wanted to capture the ritualistic process of making my morning matcha tea, an essential step for me in waking up.

Awake
Picasso inspired....I am feeling wide awake now!!! Haven’t painted in decades and this SIP (shelter in place) has helped me renew my love of painting and playing around with new mediums to make art. Its my way of meditating.

Awake
While watering my plants this week, I noticed that my snake plant is growing a tiny new bud. It seemed like a timely reminder that the world is still awake, even though our lives are on pause.

Shadows take you to the sunshine
In this piece, I chose to use elements that I wake up to or for-including sun, lamps, my puppy, the beach, or a poolside oasis.
